As at October 2024, Dave Quinn has taken over the data gathering for this page and produced this remarkable map giving all the league locations of all types of skittles in England. Click the "slider" symbol in the top left and ensure the skittles types of interest are selected. On a PC, use your mouse scroller to zoom in and out.

And here is the source data for the map - the following sheet gives loads of details and links to all the Long Alley skittles leagues that we've identified to date plus the last Old English skittles alley in Hampstead.

Old English or London Skittles

London Skittles at the Hampstead Lawn Billiards and Skittles Club - An excellent site on the rare game of Old English Skittles. The last remaining alley kept in shape by an indomitable crew of stalwarts playing every Tuesday and some Saturdays at The Freemasons Arms, Downshire Hill, Hampstead.

The following pubs used to regularly play Old English Skittles.  Most regrettably, they have all apparently removed their alleys, recently, furthering the decline of the game:
National Westminster Bank Recreation Club, Norbury
The Duke of Devonshire, Balham
The Haven Arms, Haven Lane, Ealing, London W5
The Duke's Head Inn, Lower Richmond Road, Putney, London SW15

Irish Skittles

March 2018, the website seems to have disappeared but there is a facebook page:

Long Alley Skittles

Belper and District Skittles League (Long Alley). May 2010 John Bull wrote to inform me about the Belper league in Derbyshire. There are roughly 30 teams in the league, 3 divisions of 10. There are two differences compared with Nottinghamshire's rules which are that you have to hit the front pin first and it doesn't have to bounce before hitting although it still has to clear the tin. [Update 2017 website www.skittlesteam.co.uk has disappeared. Does the league still exist?]

The Clay Cross & District Skittle League. Long Alley Skittles comprised 24 teams at June 2012 and is believed to still do in 2024.

Syston & District Skittle League A long established Long Alley Skittle League in the north of Leicestershire, currently with thirty two teams in three divisions, playing on Friday evenings from September to mid May.

Ripley and District Skittles League in Derbyshire. Started in 1978 with and thriving with between 38 and 42 clubs (Jan 2016, thanks to Steve Sheldon).
